September Member of the Month-Neal F

Congratulations to our September Member of the Month, Neal F. Where do we even start? Neal has been an amazing transformation in such a short amount of time. In his first month with us he lost 28 lbs. It was the most amount of weight that any of our members have lost, and the most amount of weight I've seen in any case. Neal completely transformed his life. He took control of his eating habits, and made it a point to get to the fitness center at least 3-4 days per week. Now being down over 65 lbs, Neal serves as a true inspiration to anyone that with being accountable for what we do on a daily basis, it will add up over time, and you will set yourself up to do extraordinary things! Awesome job Neal!!

Throughout your lifetime, how long have you been working out for and what do you enjoy most about fitness?

Throughout my childhood and through high school I played football, baseball, and basketball competitively. As an adult, I enjoyed playing rec volleyball, golf, softball, and other things, but never actually started working out in a gym setting before joining K.Shan. I think while playing sports or doing fitness training, the thing I enjoy most is the comradery with everyone around you. At K.Shan, everyone is always supportive, whether it is just a normal class day, challenge week, or anything else. Playing all team sports growing up, I believe that being part of a team is beneficial in everyday life. K.Shan performance gives that same feeling of everyone being part of a team, while still trying to better your own life.

Since training at K.Shan Performance, what have you learned the most about fitness as well as about yourself?

Since I joined K.Shan back in February, I have learned so much. When first joining I was EXTREMELY overweight. For a long time I got into poor eating habits, and along with that did very little exercise besides work, and around the house stuff. After receiving encouragement from friends, my wife Melissa, and finally even basically "dared" by Kyle, I decided to join, and it was one of the best decisions I have ever made. I've learned that eating a little healthier and by working out during the week, that great things can happen, and will happen. Personally, I've lost over 65 lbs, which is great, but more important is how working out at K.Shan has made me feel. I no longer have sleep apnea, snore very little if at all anymore, no longer have lower back pain, feel stronger, and just have more energy in general.

What do you like most about the workouts? And what is your favorite exercise?

The thing I like most about the excercises we do at K.Shan is the different "stations". On a regular night we do (3) sets of 3-4 different excercises, for 3 rounds, so it ends up being anywhere from 10-12 different excercises. What I personally enjoy about this is it keeps things moving, and your not bored doing the same thing over and over. Each day the excercises are changed and work different parts of your body's muscles, while also incorporating a great cardio workout.

What would you recommend to someone looking to start training?

I guess the only thing I can say to someone is to just try it. I know (because I did it) that it is easy to make excuses as to why not join and start training. It's always "maybe next month", or "yeah I should, but I have a lot going on in my life right now". It's all just silly excuses. Again, I did the exact same thing. At K.Shan there are many different times to work with, from morning till night, and it's an hour a day. The other great thing is there are all ages and abilities at K.Shan, and everyone is unbelievably supportive of one another. No matter what goals you might want to attain from fitness training, I guarantee that if you take classes here that you will be meet awesome people, and have trainers in Kyle and Drew that truly care about helping everyone improve their lives in a healthy way.
