Training for Power on the Baseball Field

We all hear it in baseball that a certain hitter has "Pop" or "Power." Both pop and power come from the athlete's ability to generate power all the way from their foot, through the core, and to the hands. 

 

There are many ways to gain explosiveness and power in baseball players.

​

1. Increase your overall strength relative to your bodyweight-the stronger you are, the more force that you can generate.

​

2. Train the fast twitch muscle fibers-Doing quick, light resisted, movements enables the resistance to remain lower and the acceleration to remain high.

 

Two great exercises to guarantee an increase in power in the batters box and in your throwing motion can be seen in the video listed below.
