December Member of the Month-Kevin C!

Congratulations to our December Member of the Month, Kevin C! Kevin joined up with us a little over a month ago, and has made leaps and bounds in his first month. Kevin lost an incredible 16 lbs. in his first month! Getting started is always the hardest part and we commend Kevin for his determination and commitment throughout the past month! We look forward to your continued success!

Throughout your lifetime, how long have you been working out for and what do you enjoy most about fitness?

I'm ashamed to say, I haven’t really done much since high school. I've tried to stay somewhat active, but haven't kept up any fitness regime for any length of time. I never thought I would enjoy "fitness" or going to the gym. My wife has always been active and in shape and she encouraged me to give it a try. I wish I would have listened to her 10 years ago! I really enjoy it and notice the energy it gives me.

Since training at K.Shan Performance, what have you learned the most about fitness as well as about yourself?

I have learned that accountability really is the key. I tried in the past to work out at home, but gave up pretty quickly. Being part of the group at the gym holds you accountable. I have seen that it also helps you stay accountable outside the gym. I think twice about what I eat or drink since I don’t want to feel like I wasted the time I spent at the gym.

What do you like most about the workouts? And what is your favorite exercise?

I like the fact that every day is a different set of exercises. I've been coming for a month and some days there are new exercises that we haven’t done before. One of the reasons I never stayed with any routine was simple boredom, but I don’t see that happening here. So far I would say my favorite exercise are the medicine ball sit-ups or the sleds.

What would you recommend to someone looking to start training?

Just take that first step and show up and half the battle is over. It is amazing how quickly you get into the routine and start feeling good. I was never a morning person, but I come to the 6 am class and it is an awesome feeling of accomplishment to get it done and a great way to start the day. I used every excuse in the book to not start. But the schedule, people and program here wiped out every excuse I ever had.
