October Member of The Month-Dave S.

Congratulations to this month's member of the month, Dave S. Dave started with us in early June and has displayed a tremendous ability to retain knowledge and apply it in to his every day life. Dave has been on an inspiring fitness and lifestyle change journey in which he has modified his diet and has stayed committed to challenging himself in the fitness center. Thank you, Dave, for coming in to every session with great energy and always challenging yourself with each exercise. We are grateful to have you as a part of our team.

Throughout your lifetime, how long have you been working out for and what do you enjoy most about fitness?

I have never been heavily into fitness in the past with the exception of lifting weights when I was younger. While lifting weights was fun I never really found an exercise program which I enjoyed.

Since training at K.Shan Performance, what have you learned the most about fitness as well as about yourself?

I have learned how important it is to my health to take care of myself. Kyle has shown that exercise and nutrition are both equal parts of being a healthy individual. The most surprising thing I have had happen is a drastic increase in my energy level since I began.

What do you like most about the workouts? And what is your favorite exercise?

I love being able to come into the gym for an hour a day and not have to think about anything but pushing myself physically and mentally. Kyle demonstrates each exercise every time we do it and monitors all of us to be sure we are doing each one properly to get the maximum benefit and to avoid injury. While my favorite exercises change over time, I would say my current favorite is planks.

What would you recommend to someone looking to start training?

I suggest to everyone who asks to think about how you want to live. One of my favorite movie quotes is from the Shawshank Redemption: "Get busy living or get busy dying." It is never too late to change how you are. We have many people like me in their 50's in Kyle's class along with many younger and some older. I am amazed how easy it is to work toward my fitness goals. An hour a day does it. I suggest to anyone to give it a shot. Take an hour a day, surround yourself with like minded individuals and start the process.
